I hit the floor running!

Monday, December 15, 2008

Wow... I didn't think I had it in me! The second I opened my eyes on this beautiful snow driven day I hit the floor running with no time even for my favorite mug of coffee. I've been blessed this season with so many custom orders that I've dis~owned life as I once knew it. No more working in the yard, learning new tricks or even sketching on the graphire.

I have no time for family, food or even Simes. Poor guy, he's feeling so neglected. The only free time I've had I spent buying more supplies, printing shipping labels, packaging, answering email orders and a sparse moment of Christmas shopping via the good ole internet. The one thing that I did make time for was making a few batches of granola thanks to my sweet and very dear friend Kathleen who's inspired me to do so. I needed it, something wholesome and that was my saving grace since that's all I've been eating for the last week.... Yes, eating granola and listening to Ben Harper and Dave Matthews! That's all I need right now, at least until the New year. Lock myself into my little rooms (the dungeon and the happy hole) and freeze my A_ _ off! So far this past month I've hit the same finger 5 or six times with the hammer, cut my hand, burned my fingers and got steel wool in my eye's. I make it a point to look my best each day since I DON'T want to go to the ER looking like I just got out of bed like I did this morning. I'm destined to get hurt... The file in the heel last year, falling down the stairs and breaking my foot this year to nearly burning my knuckles off from "Lilly" my torch.

I've been reflecting again on my journey's this past year AGAIN.... Maui and the Sierra's. My sister and her family are going to Maui next month and so wishing I was going with her. The Sierra's are in my soul though, my family has 60 years history in the June lake loop. One of my favorite pieces made during my trip to Silver lake last summer "Tioga".

Every July after the 4th our entire family and friends camp at Silver lake fishing (catch and release) hike, horseback riding,Kayak, sunbathe, swim, eat, drink play games, sit by the campfire and take ALOT of pictures. The air is so fresh, the aspen dancing so gracefully, the water glistening and the summer rain with the smell of sage brush... oh I love that smell!

Today I finished a custom order that's been stressing me a little and there's not enough hours in the day to do everything I need to do. After hitting the floor on an Olympic trek I finally completed the key chain that was a long over due custom order and I can truly say that I'm pleased with the outcome! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=18738290 .

I also finished the necklace that she ordered... all is good! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=18739490 .

I did manage to list a pair of earrings today, "cranberries" http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=12569759 . They just found a home in Minnestota. I have so many new ideas for pieces that I want to make but until I get a little more creative time I have to put them on hold.

I'm thinking of retiring my floral pattern I've been using and love so much. I'm trying to stay awake long enough when I hit the hay do bring a sketch pad and pens so I can draw up some new designs for next years line.

Well, time to get back to work... must make smiles happen!
