Finally.... a new listing

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

I finally got the chance to list something. After my time with Millie and all of the inspiration of her beautiful cabs and now pine needle baskets I'm trying to get back into the saddle once again.

Every night this week I've been working on this basket of pine needles. Boy, what a challenging craft! The needles must be supple or they'll break during the wrapping. They're Ponderosa pine and smell heavenly.

I made a distressed leather necklace with a patch of organic beads consisting of Mexican turquoise and homegrown RUSTIC glass. Since they were made during the time I was making this basket they have to go together, I just listed the necklace and will ship it in the pine needle basket. I'm working on the lid tonight. I need to visit Millie again to see how I can connect the needles with a "seamless" appearance.

In order to connect them, you insert the new needles into the gather that you just wrapped, insert tham at different lengths and then roll a bit between your fingers. Voila!

Oh! You can also soak the needles for 30 minutes to make them more supple. Simple pour boiling water over them and let sit for 30 minutes and then wrap in a towel.

I love that the necklace and needle basket will go together. They are a great match. Thanks so much for visiting me! I have admired your work for a little while now (since I found you of course). Even had to post about an etched necklace (here in case you missed http://lightandwriting.blogspot.com/2009/01/saturday-longing.html ) So happy to know I can now read about the new pieces you are working on! emma

Hello my love, I feel SO honored to be displayed on your blog :)

I'm sitting here in Sac Internation waiting on a delayed flight admiring my gorgeous rings (hahaha yes I have them both on even though I've not gotten married yet...but who cares, they make me SMILE and so who shall tell me no??? ;o)

I must say that I also have on my pearls and my Queen Gwenna necklace and I can't decide if I'm being stared at due to my own stunning beauty or that of your adornments I'm dispalying. I'm guessing both. xoxoxoxo
