The back

It's 2:00am and I'm in a sound sleep after the three week run of the phone ringing all night long for my T-man to go and repair power lines in the middle of the night in the rain and snow. I'm so tired... my mind isn't resting, even though I'm sleeping there's action going on in the background of my mind. Last night I was desperately needing rest so THAT is what I attempted.... a solid night of sleep with no anticipated phone calls from the utility company.

This did not happen!!!! I was abruptly waken by the phone at 2 o'clock this morning, I turned and asked my sweets if he was on call and the tone in his voice.... A deep growl "NOOOOO"! We let the answering machine take the call, in the distance I heard a tiny voice, they sounded distraught. I jumped out of bed and ran to the kitchen to play the message back expecting something horrible had happened to a loved one.

OMG!!!!! It was a drunk 10-11 year old boy calling the wrong number, continually apologizing that he was drunk and mumbling words to who ever he thought he was talking to. He went on and on and was definately out of control. I swear he was barely out of diapers. Where were his parents, and on a school night? I went back to bed and wondered how this child was, is he going to be okay? His parents need to know but where are they?

I never went back to sleep, I pondered that message the rest of the night and hearing that little voice over and over. So, my much needed rest is gone. I'm sooooo tired and have a HUGE day, lots and lots of orders to get out and the belt buckle I've been wanting to finish but can't seem to find the time to do so.

Pleasantries..........that's what's on the menu today, all pleasantries! I bought an old rusty key for my friend who loves rusty things so I'm wrapping it up and sending it to her as well as a cup for my other friend who loves pottery as well. I made several cups a couple of years ago in Pottery class, that's yet another passion ... pottery. When I finally make time I'm throwing some clay and selling it on my other Etsy shop "the fire lilly".

My cold tired Valentine

~Tis the "Queen" and I ~ making her rings~

~The proposal~

~The kiss~

~The rings~

When my little brother, sisters and I were growing up our mother tricked us into taking naps everyday by telling us we were going to Lilly white's tea party. I think I fell for it every single day!

Mom and I both had a very different idea of what kind of tea party us chittlins were going to : o)

I went for a walk out back to look at the future home of the "Creek house" bringing the camera and Simes, I found a few flowers that needed to be frozen in time. They were so vivid under a gray sky and their beauty will live on thanks to Nikon!

One of my most favorite necklaces sold this week, "Grace" now lives in Minnesota with a beautiful woman. I'll make another one soon enough, I so badly wanted to show "Grace" to queen Gwenna who would have appreciated her beauty. Gwenna's opinion matter's to me, her words are true! She's met an Irishman who lives in England and will be marrying him this year. I was commissioned to make her "non traditonal" wedding set, Her sweets proposed to her in Europe last month..... Nobody deserves this more than her... not even me.

Off to the party!

Finally.... a new listing

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

I finally got the chance to list something. After my time with Millie and all of the inspiration of her beautiful cabs and now pine needle baskets I'm trying to get back into the saddle once again.

Every night this week I've been working on this basket of pine needles. Boy, what a challenging craft! The needles must be supple or they'll break during the wrapping. They're Ponderosa pine and smell heavenly.

I made a distressed leather necklace with a patch of organic beads consisting of Mexican turquoise and homegrown RUSTIC glass. Since they were made during the time I was making this basket they have to go together, I just listed the necklace and will ship it in the pine needle basket. I'm working on the lid tonight. I need to visit Millie again to see how I can connect the needles with a "seamless" appearance.
